+++ ONE BAR TOWN
- new Songs, myspace.com and OBS DVD ...
Everybody else is doing it, so why can't we? Meet One Bar Town at: www.myspace.com/onebartown.
While there is still no confirmed release date for the DVD off the OBS
festival, it is quite certain that once it's been released, One Bar Town
should be featured as well! Rumours are that there will also be a regular
CD release and again, your favourite fivepiece should be part of the bargain.
The 'Boy Scout Songs' tour has come to an end, after nearly two years.
At their current shows One Bar Town is presenting some 15 new songs. Some
might end up on the next album, while others will only be heard a couple
of times and then never again.

+++ MICHAEL WESTON KING
Dates and new album ...
A stunning 15 song album of cover versions performed by one of the finest
singer and songwriters around. And eclectic selection, ranging from songs
by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Pete Townsend, Ronnie Lane and Scott Walker
to the more unlikely choices of songs by Gilbert O'Sullivan, Candi Staton,
Marvin Gaye and Victorie Williams.
"MWK unites disparate styles and influences in his golden-voiced,
soul-searching manner. There's John Fogerty's 'Someday Never Comes', a
rocker with the Good Sons, and Gilbert O'Sullivan's 'Alone Again Naturally',
turned into a slow, Nick Cave-like triumph. The Beatles' 'For No One'
takes on a reflective edge, while 'You Are Everything' perversely has
the Good Sons tackling soul. Neil Young and Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and Ronnie
Lane , it's a collection of beautiful, off-kilter material, all brought
together by MWK's elegant, subtle performances." (Nick Dalton, Maverick)

+++ THE MEN THEY COULDN'T HANG "The Cherry Red
Jukebox"
Unashamed music for the ordinary person and their extraordinary experiences,
comprising personal reminiscence, observation and stories set in the here
and now. Rock, folk, blues, punk, and country are the musical themes,
blended in the unique TMTCH style. From the subways of Hammersmith in
London, around the world and back to the same old dirty subways - this
is the story of what happened to the punk generation. It's also the story
of what happened to TMTCH.

+++ The John Doe Thing
Out Now: "Freedom Is ..." Twah! 123
"Freedom Is . . ." took about 2 ½ years to record, it
was done at Dave Way's house who mixed & engineered Spice Girls, TLC,
Savage Garden, Christina Aguillara, Macy Gray & (go figure) The John
Doe Thing a.o.
It features all kinds of cool players like Mike Ward (Wallflowers), Smokey
Hormel( Beck, Tom Waits), Joey Waronker (Walt Mink, Beck, REM), Stuart
Johnson (Love Jones, Matthew Sweet, New Radicals), Tony Marsico (J. Doe
Band, Matthew Sweet), Money Mark(Beastie Boys), Josh Freese (records w/everybody
cool) & then Dave Way & John Doe just working away at all the
rest of the stuff.
Most song's lyrics are poetry/romance & how incredibly tough it is
to find some kind of satisfaction or beauty in that world.
"Here's hoping that before John Doe focuses on being a fulltime
character actor, he knocks out a few more albums as strong as this one".
